Cohuna Golf Bowls Notes
Thanks to a well-attended working bee last week, all our facilities have been spruced up in readiness for the coming bowls season. Thanks to all who attended, and Cheryle and Co for the morning tea.
Snowy Baker, our resident handyman has been busy repairing sprinklers and installing a drip-water system in the rose garden. It won’t be long before the water will be needed around the place.
This week sees the commencement of the Thursday pairs, at last count there was still room for a name or two to fill the field. John Prout is handling the event this year.
Following on Sunday is Mawson’s Opening Day, which is attracting a good field of mixed fours. Ian Coates will be only too happy to take further entries, a12.30 start. Our members please note a plate of afternoon tea will be most welcomed by the catering committee.
A little further on is the first of our pennant practice matches, Echuca’s turn to host us this year on Sunday 21st. More names are required, the bus leaves the UNA carpark at 11 am, and $20 will cover everything for the day.
Many of our members are already up and about, with several taking part in Barham’s opening day on Saturday, whilst a pretty handy quartet of Mick, Craig, Ian and Frank collected the chocolates at Lake Boga’s opening the same day.
Bluey Fletcher’s Victorian Armed Side couldn’t repeat their State winning form of 2024, but still finished a creditable second at Warrnambool after a week of competition.
Congratulations to the Golf Club for a most successful Pro-Am tournament. Their efforts, plus the prominence of Golf bowlers, keeps our club in a dominant position as a top sporting body in Northern Victoria.
