Cohuna Golf Bowls Notes
With the year’s activities winding down, this week has been pretty quiet, with the exception of our tournament on Thursday.
First off however was the penultimate day of social bowls on Tuesday. Another good turnout enjoyed the cooler weather, and the triples games organised. Best performed were the trio of Noelene, Val and Fiona, who had an impressive victory over Mary’s side.
Wednesday’s rain put a dampener on preparation for the Russ McLoughlan memorial day on Thursday, but thanks to our dedicated team of workers the greens and surrounds looked great, although understandably the green speed was well down to normal.
Twenty four teams from all points of the compass took part, including a couple of sides representing the McLoughlan family. Four won through unbeaten, with third place to Rhonda Ballard’s Gunbower side, second to Len Mathers from Golf, with the winners being Mike Hofman, Jeff Reade and Bluey Fletcher, a Cohuna and Golf combination.
Well done to the caterers with great soup and hot pies, and also Julie McLoughlan who provided , and presented, a range of prizes. Cohuna is the venue this week.
Just around the corner is our AGM and Presentation night, set for April 9th. Meals are to be paid for prior, cheap at $20, to follow the meeting due to commence at 6pm. Contact Yvonne or John Keely if you have any concerns.
With reportable items fast diminishing, the notes will finish up this week. Members will be kept informed of anything new on our Stack Team app. Thanks to the Gannawarra Times for including our notes each week, and their coverage of bowls in general.
